The Minority Health Promotion Center(MHPC) provides health education and outreach, health fairs and workshops, and screenings, as well as RITE Care and Rhode Island Pharmaceutical Assistance for the Elderly(RIPAE) application assistance.

With funding from the RI Department of Health, the MHPC offers outreach programs in tobacco control.  These programs inform clients about the dangers of smoking and how to identify tobacco-advertising strategies, especially those that target youths.

Current Activities and Initiatives:

• Women and Infants Family Van, a free health care service open to the community every 3rd   Wednesday from 9am-12pm.

• Youth Health Survey (in collaboration with the RI Department of Health)

• IIRI Tobacco Control Program is a community resource for businesses to obtain information about the smoke free policy (Workers Safety Act) that went into effect March 1, 2005.
