TO DONATE

September 13, 2005

This month alone, 44 refugees from Africa, escaping violence in their homelands, will be arriving in Rhode Island with only the clothing on their back.

Here’s how you can help welcome them as they begin building new lives in our communities:

  • Send in a cash donation of $25 or more to the “Refugee Welcome Fund”, International Institute Rhode Island, 645 Elmwood Ave., Providence, RI, 02907

  • Drop off donations of:
    - Blankets, linens and towels to keep families warm     and give them the comfort they need in their new homes
    - Cribs, so children will sleep safely and peacefully
    - Toiletry items and diapers
    - Cooking utensils, pots and pans
    - Household cleaning products

By donating to our newest families, you will help ease their transition in becoming self-sufficient and active community participants in Rhode Island. For more information, call Refugee Resettlement Program Coordinator Terri Coustan at 401-784-8607 or click here to learn more about International Institute’s Resettlement Program. Clothing donations are not needed at this time.
