Michelle DePlante is a recent graduate from Providence College with a degree in Global Studies focusing mainly on Latin America as well as minors in Spanish and Business Studies.

While at Providence College, Michelle spearheaded an Immigration Week through a grant from Campus Compact Raise Your Voice. She also piloted a Citizenship Class program at the Diocese of Providence.

As the daugher of a Cuban immigrant, Michelle feels passionately about helping others and is very excited to be joining IIRI. As the Community Outreach Specialist, Michelle aims to increase immigrants’ and refugees’ understanding and awareness of immigration law and available state and federal programs.

The continuing goal of the Community Outreach Specialist is to develop a comprehensive network of resources within the foreign-born community to help foster a more sophisticated understanding of the law in order to enable immigrants and refugees to make important immigration decisions.

Michelle is available for seminars, lectures, forums and informational panels on immigration law, citizenship, and immigrants’ rights.
