IIRI Celebrates 90th Anniversary Year

Established in 1921, IIRI marks a milestone in a history of providing high quality programs and services to Rhode Island’s immigrants and refugees.
IIRI is celebrating its 90th anniversary year in 2011, having evolved from a modest organization providing educational opportunities and social services to Providence’s immigrant women and children during the 1920s to today’s vibrant, impactful organization providing comprehensive, high quality services to thousands of immigrants and refugees statewide.

On April 6, 2011 join us at Pathway to the American Dream, a celebratory luncheon at the Rhode Island Convention Center to honor local champions of immigrants and refugees as well as highlight accomplishments of our clients.  The keynote speaker will be Connie Laverty O'Connor, Chief Executive Officer of Northstar Consortium. An Irish immigrant, Ms. O'Connor is a recognized leader in her field.  IIRI will recognize Bank of America, the Rhode Island Bar Association, The United Way of Rhode Island and Lifespan for their long time support. On June 2, 2011 IIRI will be celebrating with the community we serve at our Education Graduation Ceremony and recognition of World Refugee Day.  This year’s ceremony will feature our students and their accomplishments in the classroom.  Share this special occasion and mark the achievements of these highly motivated, hard working immigrant and refugee students with us. 

In the fall IIRI will round out the year of 90th Anniversary celebrations with a special 90th Anniversary Annual Meeting and second annual immigration conference.
