IIRI Receives 2008 Business Excellence Award
At an Awards dinner held on November 13, 2008 at the Providence Marriot, International Institute Rhode Island was the recipient of the 2008 Award for Excellence at a Non-Profit, one of 6 Business Excellence Awards made annually by Providence Business News to area businesses and individuals. Bill Shuey, Executive Director of IIRI, accepted the award on behalf of the organization.
The award was based on the recommendation of a panel of judges as part of a competitive application process of non-profit agencies. Judges reviewed applicants’ growth, planning and operational performance, financial trends, efficiency ratios, community involvement, and human resource management practices.
In his acceptance speech, Executive Director Bill Shuey acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the IIRI staff, Board of Directors, the many volunteers who contribute to the success of the agency, along with IIRI"s donors and other supporters.
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse was keynote speaker at the event.
