The community is invited to International Institute Rhode Island’s Annual Board Meeting on September 15 at 4:30 p.m. at IIRI to celebrate 87 years of helping immigrants and refugees build new and productive lives.

The program will include a trailer of the film, Home Across Lands, a documentary which chronicles the work of IIRI as it guides and empowers a group of Kunaman refugees making their transition from a life in the Shimelba Refugee Camp in Ethiopia, Africa to their new home in Providence, RI.

The meeting will highlight our past year's accomplishments, honor key volunteers and give the Institute's many supports the opportunity to hear from its leadership about challenges and goals for the coming year. It will be followed by a reception with light hors d’oeurvres. Free parking is available. More information on the program.

Over the next three months IIRI will be welcoming over 90 new refugees from Africa and Iraq. Please help us provide the basic household and personal items needed for their new lives here.
